Apple has announced that with the release of iOS 8 we will have the ability to use system wide customized keyboards provided by developers. For example, this means that if Swype chooses to provide it,fans of Swype will be able use it with anything requiring a keyboard input.

As the ios rowing up, I see Apple incorporating Jailbreak tweaks more, iOS7 being one good exemple. Anyway, I welcome that addition to iOS 8

They've incorporated the Quick Reply feature that works for almost all messaging apps as well, which is definitely a plus if you multitask a lot on your phone. I believe the feature still holds true for the iPad, haven't had a chance to get the beta firmware on any of my devices with the bogged speeds from Apple.

It would be great if SwiftKey becomes fully workable sometime in the future, SwiftKey for IOS is very limited at the moment, It really is THE best keyboard out there.

All the new changes for iOS 8 will be exciting to see. I have something similar to swype on my kindle and find it very handy. :)

Now all we have to do is hope the developers decide to provide us with these custom keyboards

Swiftkey (similar to Swype) has already said they are on board.

Personally, I think it's a bigger deal for iPhones than iPads. Swiping on a small keyboard is fast finger movement. On an iPad you're moving your entire hand, and if you're doing that much then tapping the key is little different than swiping to it.

The predictive typing, which Apple will be adding to their own keyboard, is a bigger deal. Of course both Swype and Swiftkey have been using predictive typing longer, so it may work better with their solutions. No way to tell until iOS 8 and the other keyboards come out so we can try them.
