Hi everyone,

Sorry, I'm new to the forums but have an urgent question so have skipped the introductions - hope you will excuse my rudeness!

I have a nice new iPad2 and when I got it I very excitedly downloaded lots of apps to it immediately. Now, my iMac is already synced to my iPhone and a completely different set of apps. So when I decided it was time to sync my iPad with my iMac, in order to ensure I have a backup of everything, it seems to want to delete all my iPad apps and replace them with the set of iPhone ones that I have stored in iTunes :( Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas on how to resolve it? I would be gutted to lose all my apps...

Thanks :)

Just plug in your iPad to iTunes, and check the option 'Manually manage music and media/apps for this device' or similar. Then you have simply go to the Apps tab, scroll down to the iPad apps (they're sorted by kind in default) and check all the iPad apps you have. Then simply uncheck the duplicate iPhone versions, or just sync to your iPad and delete the iPhone apps from the device itself. Also, you might want to try the 'Purchased' tab in the App Store on the iPad. Then simply click 'Download'/'Install' to get them on your iPad.

You don't need to create multiple accounts. I have two iphones, a ipad and 5 ipods all synced to the same library/account. All the sync settings for each device is different.

To the OP, it sounds like you have bought apps on your ipad that aren't in your itunes library yet. Cancel the sync and use the transfer purchases option to copy all your apps into your itunes library. While you are there set your sync settings up for your ipad such that you select which music, apps, videos etc you want to sync to your ipad.
