Syncing contacts with iTunes

Am getting this error message

the information on this ipad is synced with another user account. do you want to sync this ipad with the information from this user account instead?

But, I am using the same and only user account I have had with apple.

Any ideas ?

Did you update iTunes on your computer, or did you connect your iDevice to a different computer than before?
 
Was your computer repaired, or were some parts replaced? This can also cause your popup.

Usually you should get "Merge" or "Replace" the info. If you merge, and all the info (calendar entries, contacts, ...) is already there, you'll get duplicates. In that case replace the info.

No repairs of any kind, this has happened before.

Thanks for the info re contacts, must remember to replace not merge.
