9to5 Mac reports on tests that have recently been carried out by PC World to find out the fastest wireless carrier in the US. The tests measured the 3G and 4G wireless data transfer speeds of the top carriers in the US, namely T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon and Sprint, and were carried out both inside and outside on multiple devices in 130 locations across 13 big cities. According to 9to5 Mac, the result of the tests was that as far as 3G speeds are concerned, T-Mobile had the fastest download and upload speeds, with 3.84 Mbps and 1.44 Mbps, with AT&T ranking number 2 with 2.62 Mbps download and 0.85 Mbps upload. As far as 4G speeds are concerned, however, AT&T came out on top, with 9.56 Mbps download speed and 5.15 Mbps upload speed. Verizon took second place in the 4G category with 7.35 Mbps for downloads and 5.86 Mbps for uploads. 9to5 Mac says that T-Mobile came out on top overall as the best 3G provider thanks to its HSPA+ 21 service that is as fast as 4G in many countries around the world. AT&T aced the 4G category, coming out top in all but four of the cities in which the test was run.
