Tethering to HTC Help Please

I have an iPad mini which tethers to my HTC phone perfectly. Tethering is allowed in my phone plan.

My iPad 2 sees the connection to the HTC but fails to make the connection.

I've made sure the mini is off so that shouldn't be a conflict.

I've looked at all the settings and can't see anything different.

Both iPads are up to date.

The iPad 2 is about 1.5 years old. The mini was purchased in January.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Have you tried a hard reset? Press and hold both the power and home buttons until the Apple logo appears, then release. When the iPad restarts, try again.
If that doesn't work, you may want to reset network settings. To do that go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. You will not lose any data by doing this.

BTW, does the iPad 2 connect all right with other WiFi sources?

Thanks scifan. As soon as the 2 charges up again, I'll start with the network settings idea.

Generally it connects ok. Sometimes it is iffy when at airports, hotels, etc.

If I do the "Press and hold both the power and home buttons until the Apple logo appears, then release" won't that wipe out everything? If all else fails, I might have to do this. Sort of worried that I don't have everything backed up in iTunes.

Will attempt one or both of these tomorrow.

No, it won't wipe anything, it's just like rebooting a PC......nothing will get wiped but it's good for getting an iDevice back working smoothly when it all starts to go pear shaped!

Thanks so much. The reboot didn't work. Redid the network setting and bothl work now.

No more of my husband and I having to share the mini when we're travelling.
