texting help needed

i am new to this forum so if i make a mistake im sure some one will point it out. so thanks in advance for that. Any way here is my problem. My wife has an ipad mini with no phone number attached to it . Some how she is able to text my iphone from her ipad. I think she is using wifi and face time to do it . My problem is she is a away for a few weeks and wants to text every night. i hate doing it on an iphone. im old and that keyboard is so small. I want to text her using my desktop windows 8 computer. Does any one know how i can do this ? Thanks Mike

Hi Mike, you both could use Skype. So you can text each other. Her iPad has to connected to the internet by wlan. Hope this help. Regards, Andy

You could use Siri to send text messages to her, if it's available on your iPhone. In that case you don't have to type, but tell Siri for whom the message is and it's content, and Siri will send it to her.

My understanding is that you can write the text on your desktop and then send it via the iPhone, iPad or iPod. The app is not free.
