What's new

The "Anything Goes" thread

Here are two photos of my front yard, one taken last November and one just now. Quite a difference in the amount of snow.

That's a big difference Sci. And a lot of work you've done

That house across the road sure has a lot on its roof too.

Prairie winter as I recall can run from late September to early May if it's a bad year.

BTW - diggin that Irish avatar. :)

Wow--don't think we have ever experienced Prairie Winter here. That would really bum all of us out. For the last 2 years-St. Patty's day climbed up to mid 70's weather. I am hoping for the same ...hence the new avatar!! :)

Those mounds are a winter's worth if snow from the store parking lot where I work. The main city snow dump site has so much snow in it that it won't finish melting till September.
We only need about another inch of snow to break a 57 year old winter snowfall record.

Well...for all that, I hope you gain that final inch for all the work that has been done this winter shoveling!! :)

It's probably the oldest colour TV I have! A 1969 His Masters Voice Ambassador 26 colour TV! I trash picked it on Saturday, god I love dump shopping!

A Commodore 64 a day keeps the Apple II away!

Same here but I am a teensy bit behind with mine! I've got one or two white loads and a coloured load to go. Oops! I totally forgot.

Trying to copy a 111 GB iTunes Library onto an external hard drive is a very slow process. :(

So is downloading purchased apps onto a new copy of iTunes, especially when a hideous number of them are the anklesnapper's games at over 1Gb each.

I'll probably just run it overnight or something, it says it'll take a few hours :(
This is when a Thunderbolt drive would come in handy. I just have a cheap 250 GB USB Western Digital MyPassport that cost like $50 :D

The Scifan virtual laundry is up and running.

It's never fun having to wait for all the apps to back up and copy onto itunes. Seems like it takes forever. I have 78 apps on my iPad and that seems like a long time!

I frequently leave my iPad on overnight to download large apps, updates, podcasts, etc. I hate waiting! :D

What kind of apps takes that long? Do you just put the auto lock on to "never?"

The longest thing that took a long time to update was a movie rental which took about 45 minutes.

Most "long" apps are from 400MB to 1 GB (mostly games). If it's up to about 150 MB, it'll take about 30 min. and I can just run it during dinner. It's a real pain downloading big apps, because 1 GB takes about 4 hours on my connection :(
My auto lock is set to "never," but I put the iPad to sleep while it's downloading because it can thankfully do so while in sleep mode.
