The "Anything Goes" thread

Another classic is the no shooting sign full of bullet holes.

Ahh. Yes. Signs and bullets;)

I needed some time to understand this:

The last sentence doesn't really match, I think.

If you reverse the first 2 and place it over the second one you'll see your fish. If you do the same for the two 3's, you'll have the 8. If you reverse the first 7 and place it next to the second, you'll have the triangle.

Yes, that's the solution. You didn't need as long as I did yesterday, it seems.

brilliant, now i know i am not smart cause i was so stumped

I think if you have an artist or a mind that ( I forget what it is called ) can see patterns easily are more likely to solve this! Non- linear thinkers unite! Yay scifan!

Or you can have run in to similar puzzles in the past. I think it was Through the Looking Glass -- Lewis Caroll that has a mirrored number/shape puzzle. Anyway, that was the attribution of the puzzle this one reminded me of.

Happens to me all the time. I've been to lots of classes that talk about thinking outside the box, and they all involve puzzles that need you to change assumptions. I've seen so many I now apply those assumptions when solving problems. I've coined my own term for this.

Thinking inside the outside box. ;)

Note: I've never read Through the Looking-Glass, though I have read Alice in Wonderland (because it was a free book in iBooks when it first came out).

There is a newish scam email doing the rounds.

I've received about 3 from hijacked accounts of contacts I know. The emails start of with Hey. Followed by a link.

Just delete the email. Don't open the link.

Just FYI

I've received the following advice from a friend about the wave of malware which is plaguing us.

"The routine for anyone who has it happen is to change their password; that's usually sufficient. Hacked messages are turning up on three of the Yahoo Groups which I subscribe to; this week there has been one almost every day.

"The problem is basically with Yahoo and affects their users and btinternet.com users; the BT system is run jointly with Yahoo. Yahoo don't seem to be able to solve the weakness in their system and BT have therefore announced (Telegraph biz pages about 2 weeks ago) that they are going it alone, starting the changeover this month. Telegraph says that Yahoo (already having problems) will lose about 6 million subscribers!"

HTH
