The "Anything Goes" thread

Sorry Richard, I come from a metric country so this imperial nonsense is a bit dated for me! It was a shock to me when I first started in education to have to learn this old fashioned system because UK haven't abolished it yet!

Hmmm...... A lot of metrication has removed the fun which the imperial system had. 

Mind you, metric money is better than £ s d, although when we changed to decimal prices were rounded up for convenience - of whom? 

History repeats itself etc.

sorry Richard but times change and as much as I like history, technology has moved on. You must see it from my point of view. I was brought up on the metric system and the imperial system is antiquated and frustrating. The UK needs to decide which system to go with. Not play with both when it suits them. Pints, feet and inches... It all gets annoying to me. Think about all that unnecessary printing on the packaging to show both measures. UK needs to be metric and everyone will learn to live with it. Don't worry though, I live with a partner who lives in the dark ages and constantly winds me up!

Its difficult in Australia too.
I have no idea what a baby weighs at birth when it's in grams?
I am familiar with the 6 lbs 7 oz but not in blah blah grams. 5 lbs small 9lbs big etc.
Also heights
Police looking for a 182 cm man???
I can only think 6th 2 inches etc
I could be looking for a giant or a midget and I wouldn't know!!!
Yet for fabrics and building I can think in mm and cm etc
Crazy

Lady Luck smiled on me.

Won the lottery twice :D

.... The scratch cards. New game. Won £40 the first time. Bought another ticket from the winnings and won £10. 4 tickets at £5 each. Not too bad a return.
Dear wife didn't believe I'd won till she saw the dosh! Sceptic.. 
We will be off to a posh garden centre to look for a special clematis with yellow flowers and a nice coffee and cake in the restaurant. Arthurs 

It's the getting out that counts. 
