There was a crash in the cycling event. Who was it? It was a Swiss rider, back riding with his right arm damaged.

According to cycling news live coverage it was.... Fabian Cancellara was the man who overshot the bend and caused the crash, and his chances of gold have vanished.

Am I the only one who thinks that the medal podium looks like a giant box of Cadbury chocolates?

I'm currently watching a rerun of the start of the cycling road race.

I will post more under the London Olympics 2012 thread.........

The introductionary trailer to the event is good. I like the 3D profile of the course. The PC is struggling a bit to run the video. I'm after some screen captures of aerial shots of central London.

BTW, wasn't the swimming good last night. :)

I still haven't seen the podium. I hope it has been well crafted. :)

What do you think of the decision to keep the Olympic flame in the stadium, out of sight of anybody who doesn't have tickets to an event at Olympic Stadium. I thought the IOC required that the torch be on public display during the games,as it has been in every previous Olympic games.

I'm sure wherever they put the flame someone will find reason to complain, they always do, I'll reserve judgement until they move it but I'm kind of fine about it wherever it goes.

Here you all are! Just goes to show how closed my Ipf app can be? I didn't realise this thread was here. I've been so wrapped up in the football, cycling, swimming, gymnastics........ Too much to choose from. Anyone else watching Ben Ainslie? This is our nearest beach so very local to us!

Same here for both finding this thread and too much to watch!! It's so exciting, isn't it? Too much for ipadding as well:-)

Yes to Ben, of course but there's the Dane Christensen too & I'm pulled both ways there:-(
And the other Brits: the womens 8's rowing, Oates in the judo & Tina in the dressage in the pouring, solid rain... She (the pair of them!) did brilliantly, despite. True Grit:-). It looked darned perfect to me. The commentators shelter collapsed halfway through & they were both soaked down to their knickers!

Yes, I saw that too! We are third. Let's hope William Fox-Pitt does well too. Will be keeping my eyes on that. My favourite was cross country followed by show jumping and dressage. Depends on your horse though as to what they do best. Shamrock is definitely a see how much he can eat eventer!
Shame about Colin Oates though!

Hi Hayles and Stranding. Yes, a lot is going on. The canoe slalom looks good. We are now watching the women's cycling road race. The wet and greasy roads are causing accidents. :(

I may visit Greenwich Park to look down onto the Equestrian venue.

So much is going on! Must dash :)

I see that the British non- Olympic sport of find excuses for non- winners is thriving.

Our Tour de France riders had no real chance in winning medals - thet need time to recover. Other teams are being blamed for blocking the Team GB's progress.

I heard that Mark Cavendish gave an idiotic reported short shrift, refusing to answer an especially daft question. As he marched of he threw a comment at the journalist "You need to learn about cycling"! :O

Giggle. Well, we've got to make some excuse for not continuing our winning streak.
Please, please, please take photos of the equestrian event, Richard. I'd really appreciate it.
