The New York Times’ Technology Blog is reporting today that there will be a Facebook iPad app after all. According to the Times’ sources, within the next few weeks Facebook will be launching a free iPad app that has been designed and optimised for the iPad. And the reason it took so long? Well, apparently the reason is nothing more sinister than the fact that the design process for the app has been very lengthy, with Facebook taking almost a year to perfect the design. The Times’ anonymous sources said that Facebook CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg has been heavily involved in the app’s development, keeping tabs on all design decisions. According to the same sources, the app is now in the final testing stages, and will be well worth waiting for, with a very “slick†design. The Facebook Chat and Facebook Groups features have been completely revamped for the iPad version, and some fantastic new features have been added, such as the ability to take photos using the iPad 2’s camera and then upload them to the app.
Both Facebook and Apple have declined to comment on the matter. “The photo and video experience is amazing, offering full resolution and full-screen images,†the source told the Times.
