"Cheap?" The link that you gave us said $17.99. In my book that isn't very cheap for a rubber stick. Someone else point to what they called a Targus stylus for $6.99. Were they blowin' smoke?

Think I found a stylus that:

(a) Cheep!
(b) Does work!

Targus - Stylus for Apple® iPad™ - AMM01US

It uses a sold rubber "point" and does not require you to drive it though the screen like others. Also is not like the conductive foam ones. And not that expensive.

The main item is that it just works!

This is the one I use, it works very well, I like it..

I have a $5 screen protector I use and I have no issues using the targus stylus

The Targus stylus works just fine with my Zagg screen protector.

The only thing I have against the Targus (and every other stylus out there) is the wide tip. There are many times when I can't see exactly where I'm drawing. Most of the time, that's no big deal, but it does happen.

But why isn't there one with a sharp enough point to write well with? is it because the capacitance would be too small?

The iPad screen OS is designed to detect a "large" area like a finger.

I have a Zagg Invisible Shield and a Targus stylus. No problem at all either. Works fine!
