TIPS AND TRICKS - for those of us who don't know!

Reading the general threads reminds me that we should occasionally check out ALL settings. It's easy to forget that you have a little used setting on and an accidental touch will activate it. And the sound or screen lock settings often get confused.

Good idea! I did this myself as its sounds obvious to me with all these posts asking for advice and really just looking at the settings gets you most of their answers. Is it just lazy and easier to ask?

Hi, all. This Tips and Tricks thread is fantastic. My (business) partner and I just gave out new iPads as Christmas gifts to all of our employees (about 18) at our company last Friday night. We're a Microsoft-centric IT/VAR/Development shop, but are now having a great time playing with our new toys (we're not likely to move to Macs any time soon, but THIS is an Apple product we really like). We have to admit, MS has a long way to go to catch up with the iPad. I've just finished reading all 55 pages of this thread and copied out about 30+ tips to compile into a tips guide to give to our employees. Thanks for all the great info!

I did try the trick.i can hear my music but when I tried to take a video there is no voice sounds.please help.....

I don't know which trick you've tried but you haven't inadvertently hit the switch for mute by any chance, small slide switch above your volume control? Also bring up your multi task bar by doing the 4 finger up swipe or double press the home button, then swipe to the right until you come to some controls. There is a sound control here also. If this doesn't work bring up the multi task bar again and close your app completely by long pressing it until a red minus sign appears, press this and it will close the app not delete it. Let us know how you go.

Hi guys. Ipad2 newbie here for two weeks now. I hope there is a tip or a trick on Yahoo Mail where i can download attached files and vice versa (attach files). Dropbox so far is the best answer for me around but this is quite not convenient with my clients for the latterproblem. Thanks.

Long tapping on a set of texts in the web browser will show the copy command and highlight the batch of texts (paragraph) you selected.

Waddayaknow i just found it while reading this thread!

That's quite interesting. I look forward to seeing what you make of it.

Hi all, I have just realised that I can use my iPhone 4s to share my 3G Internet connection and connect to it using my iPad when I'm on the move between wifi hotspots :)

For those that have an iPhone and a wifi edition only iPad try this:

1. On your phone go to SETTINGS > GENERAL > NETWORK > PERSONAL HOTSPOT
2. Enter anything for your password (which will be used by your iPad to connect to your phones 3G network)
3. Toggle the Personal Hotspot ON
4. Now simply scan for any new wifi networks using your iPad and your phone will be listed

How happy am I that I didn't bother paying an extra £100 plus for the iPad with network connectivity not to mention the monthly cost of another data package I'm also saving :)

Thank got my iPhone is still on unlimited data usage hehe :)

AT&T has it fixed so their billing must be updated to a higher rate for the iPhone to work as a mobil hotspot. I'm buying a Virgin Mobil wireless prepaid hotspot from Amazon go $70 and I'll pay $40 per month as needed to access virgins service.

I'm on O2 here and fortunate enough to have my partner work there so get unlimited data and 30% off my bill. Although I don't think they do the unlimited data tariff anymore... No blocks on using the Personal Hotspot function tho.

what about managing which apps appear in the "open in" slot. I have so many apps I cant find the one I want.

Organize your applications in folders. I have my folders named like A B C and so on. What ever application starts with the corresponding letter that is where that application is put.
