Howdy Folks.

I recently got a Samsung Galaxy Tab......and I am less than impressed by it.

1.) It is sluggish and slow.
2.) Battery life is the pits compared to the iPad.
3.) Touchscreen is Duotouch...NOT multitouch as advertised.
4.) Screen is meh.
5.) Cameras are HORRIBLE. ( 3MP Back/1.3 MP Front )

I will do a review on it for a friends site that I belong to but after that....should I return it and get my money back or wait until Android 3.0 comes out in the spring ( and therefore AFTER the 15 days return period )

I will say this....if this is the best thing to challenge the iPad then Apple has NOTHING to worry about.

So should I return this and get my $700 CDN back or wait it out and see if the 3.0 Update in the spring will fix it.

Return it. The OS update isn't going to fix the crappy hardware. I believe there will be some decent Android pads coming in the future, but it sounds like the Galaxy isn't one of them.

thing is these "updates" are always late so who knows what it would do for the Tab... just return it and wait to try the next generation....since you have the ipad which you've seen is superior at this point.

There's nothing wrong with the internal hardware of the Galaxy Tab. In fact, it's overall better hardware than the iPad. So the tablet specific OS (Android 3.0) could make a huge difference in the feel and overall performance of the Galaxy. The iPad has a bigger battery and IPS panel, but the Galaxy Tab has simple ways to improve it. There are a few apps that are free or cheap on the Android Marketplace that VASTLY improve the user interface of the Galaxy. I don't own a Galaxy Tab, but I do own it's "mini-me" the Galaxy S, which runs the exact same OS and exact same hardware. There is quite a bit of room for improvement that is very easy to make over Samsung's stock version of Android (all without "jailbreaking" the device).

I won't pretend to be a fan of the Galaxy Tab, I really don't like it all, but to say it has crappy hardware is dead wrong. But in the end, the Galaxy Tab is overpriced and undersized IMO. Although, once it gets the updated OS, it will be much better overall.

I still say you should return it, because compared to what is coming out in the next 4 or 5 months, it is overpriced and under-featured. Android 3.0 will undoubtedly improve on the current Galaxy Tab, however the devices being released soon will be cheaper and outperform it.

I would return it and wait for the new software update and see if it helps the over all performance. By that time the Tab will be cheaper to buy than now and have the software update and not be stuck with an overpriced tablet that you are questioning now. Of course this is just my opinion since you already have an iPad.

That is what I am leaning towards but still waiting to see what others think about this situation.

I think if you don't need the 700 bucks more than a computer you don't really want you should keep it. Because otherwise some poor minimum wage clerk at Best Buy will just have to do more work for no sale if you return it.

Wow, surprised you actually experienced a crash. I have had my Galaxy S (Android 2.2) since October and haven't experienced a single crash yet. Must be something to do with the particular software suite they loaded in the US.

That is one of the main problems with Android devices, the distributors just can't leave it alone. If all of them just left it as the normal Android, we wouldn't have as many problems and the end user experience would be much better. But the individual companies that sell the devices like HTC, Samsung, etc like to modify it with their own apps, their own rules, and their own user interface.

Canada, US, Japan, Russia, doesn't matter they all load their own specific software setups (some good some bad) on the Android devices.
