transferring ALBUMS from ipad to imac

I got an alert from Dropbox that my file was full. I decided to clean up my files and started to delete some photo files not realizing that it would affect albums that I had on Dropbox,iPhoto and in turn on my ipad. My albums in iphoto are gone but my photo albums are on my ipad. I am reluctant to try anything if it means that all of the albums on the ipad will be deleted or replaced using itunes. How do I transfer the albums on my ipad to either iphoto or imac without having to redo all of the albums. In other words I don't want to transfer the photos on my ipad if they won't be in individual albums. Thanks, Ron
