Tried but still can't sync calendar to gmail

My gmail will sync to the iPad 2 but I can't sync from the iPad to gmail. I've set up accounts for both gmail and Microsoft exhange, but no luck. What am i doing wrong?

Sure that you make new appointments in the Gmail calendar and not in the device's calendar?
