Trying to find app

As a new mini owner, I hope you will forgive me for inquiring, but I seem to be at a dead end.

At home, I listen to a radio station via their (PC) website on a flash feed. It would be nice to be able to listen while mobile. Of course, the ipad does not directly support flash. Searching the app store for the station's call letters (WCBM) came up empty. I took a look at Puffin, but not sure if/how to go about using it.

The station provided me with this link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/wcbm/id439196336?mt=8&ls=1 . Attempting to view (and purchase) the app via itues was fruitless, as all I could find was various music 'stations'.

So, apparenly the app exists. Please, how do I get to it to download?

Thanks.

V

Follow/tap the link, using your iPad. It will lead you to the App Store app, where you can take a look at the app and purchase/install it.

If you do as J.A. suggests, you will be taken to the AppStore where you can download the app for listening.

I just wanted to add that the reason why you can't find the app in the AppStore is most likely because you are looking in the iPad-only section. If you tap on the "iPad Only" button at the top, you will get an option to switch to the "iPhone Only" section. Then, when you run the search for that app, it will appear:

So, while it's easier , in this case, to just press the link the station provided you (on the iPad), for future reference, make sure you search both areas of the AppStore for apps. The new iOS 7 changed the search characteristics and you can no longer cover iPad and iPhone apps in the same search; it must be done separately.

Hope this clarifies/helps.

The link is on my PC. I tried to do it through iTunes on my PC, but no go. I tried entering it on my mini's browser, but nothing. Also entered it (manually) in iTunes. I didn't enable any email. Would opening in an email (on mini) and clicking the link work?

If you tap the link you posted in this forum, you will be directed to the App Store. The app will be opened, and you're able to take a look at it.

You can't search for the app in iTunes, because it is an app and can only be found in App Store. To find the app there, see Mickey330's advice.

Hi Marilyn: To bring you (and all) up to date, the link was sent to me via internet email (I have no email on ipad). I opened the link (PC) and opted to view in itunes. Took forever to open, but eventually did. I purchased the app, and watched as the download was completed.

I thought, 'success at last'. Opened my home page, expecting to see the icon there--wasn't. So where did it go?

Virtually at the exact moment that I posted the above, I received a generated email from apple.

Your Apple ID, xxxxxxx@xxxxx, was just used to download WCBM from the App Store on a computer or device that had not previously been associated with that Apple ID. You may also be receiving this email if you reset your password since your last purchase. Blah, blah..etc.

Does this offer any clue?

If you initiated this download, you can disregard this email. It was only sent to alert you in case you did not initiate the download yourself

If you downloaded/purchased it, the app will be found in App Store - Purchased on your iPad. If it's an iPhone app, then tap the square at the top left and choose iPhone apps.

It should be there. If there's a cloud next to it, it hasn't been downloaded to your iPad. Tap the cloud to install it on your device.

It's just an alert that someone on an unknown computer used your Apple ID. You know that you used it to download the app, so the email isn't really relevant.

When searching the app store and i tunes on the ipad, the app does not show up, period. Purchased on your iPad. If it's an iPhone app, then tap the square at the top left and choose iPhone apps.[/quote]

After some fiddling, I got the 'square' to show. Going to iphone, it doesn't show.

If you were referring to the above, the result was negative. I went to setting and found under icloud, the apps automatic download was not enabled. Seems strange, since I have been downloading apps on the pad, from the app store.

Any other ideas? Thanks btw for you help.

Automatic downloading apps means that your iPad will automatically download apps you purchased on another device, if it's enabled.

Do you find the app you're searching for in Settings - General - Usage - Storage (Show all apps)?

Okay. Since you "bought" this app via iTunes, you now have it - we just need to get it onto your iPad.

The first thing to do is open the AppStore app on your iPad. Then, (1) press the "Purchases" tab at the bottom.

(2) Ensure the line at the top left reads "iPhone Apps." If it doesn't, press it to get a drop down where you can place a check mark next to iPhone apps.

(3) In the middle is a box with two boxes in it. Ensure the one titled "Not on this iPad" is highlighted/blue.

Your iPad should now look like this:

One of the very first apps at the upper left should be the radio app you just bought. It will have a cloud with a down arrow (just like my apps have in the picture above).

Press the cloud/arrow thingy and the radio app should download to your iPad.

Hopefully, that'll sort it.

No, but wasn't there. See following post.
