I have just read of another member having this problem, mind you he was JB but how he solved it was by restarting his iPad. Press the top right button until the slide appears to turn off your iPad, wait for the Whirly to disappear and then restart by holding the button in again until the Apple logo appears. When the ipad restarts long press the offending app until the cross appears and then delete it. Give this a try, let us know how you go.

I have the same problems with Podcasts, they show up but refuse to download and there is now way to delete them.

I do have an active WiFi connection and have tried re-setting my iPad, but they just sit there teasing me.

Have you brought up your multi task bar and closed the app from there? Do the four finger swipe up and this will open the multi task bar and show all the apps that you have opened along the bottom. Long press one of them and a red minus sign will appear on the apps. Press the minus signs and this will close them and clear them from ram. Now have a try again?
