US ipad cellular in Europe

Forgive my ignorance, but I know absolutely nothing about ipads!


My daughter will be moving to Denmark to study later this year. I was thinking of buying her an ipad 3 with cellular. A friend told me that cellular would not work in Europe as it requires the use of a US carrier. Is my friend correct? If so, is there a way to make the ipad's cellular useable in Denmark--or Europe in general?

They'll work in Europe as well. When she is in Denmark, she can buy a SIM card there.

You need to check the iPad 3 carefully with the GSM and LTE bands available in Denmark. You're also better off getting the AT&T model. The radio configuration is better for Europe.

If you spring for the iPad Air instead you can throw those worries away. They are world ready.
