Using internet on ships

Hello - just responded to your other post - looks like you've already learned how to start a thread - :)

Well, if the cruise ship offers Wi-Fi that would be an easy route depending on the cost? Not sure 'where' you plan to cruise and what your 3G coverage may be but beware of roaming charges - or you might have to buy a limited SIM card? I don't have 3G on my iPad so hopefully others will 'chime in' w/ more suggestions - good luck and have a great time!

Thanks so much for your response. The ship does have wifi but can only be used in lounge etc. Could normally use dongle at a rate but nowhere on iPad to install. What is a limited Sim?

Hi Amanda - might want to still provide the location of your cruise? Likely members who have already gone through this experience and can help. Again depending on where you are traveling and whether you have a current 3G account (if the latter, check for its 'roaming' policy) - also take a look HERE for a discussion of a 'roaming SIM' (the term I should have used instead of 'limited') - I don't have 3G and now only travel in the USA & Canada, so cannot really provide much further information for you.

Hopefully once your location is revealed, members who have faced the same option(s) will 'chime in' - good luck! :)
