Verizon $20 recurring???

I have an iPad2...32 GB...3G....I have a router in my house so I have not used the 3G...went to Settings cellular data & it says that for 1 GB...there is a recurring $ 20 charge...can't I just buy $20 worth & use it when I need it...use it till it runs out?? I have no idea how this works. Thanks for any help.

Sadly No they only offer month to month. Just like cable where I only watch a few channels I still have to pay for everything.. They would not make money if they let you sit on 1gig for months on end.
They all want recurring revenues for the shareholders.

I vote for free Internet being a right! May day is still alive! Power to the people!
