How can I take a Facebook video and download it to the iPad?

Hmmm...well aren't most Facebook vids, YouTube vids? If so u can easily download those vids to iPad thru 3rd party apps/browsers. Good reader would work. Or if u are Jailbroken, u can get the Cydia app that allows downloads of YouTube vids.

This is not a youtube video. It is just one from my son. I guess there isn't a way to get it onto my ipad

Look at Video Get for Facebook, there is a lite version available. It will let you download any video from Facebook locally.
