Videos from iphone5s

Hi I'm new to the forum. My friend has Apple iPad Air and can watch videos she takes with her iphone5s on her iPad whereas when I try to watch them on my iPad 4 I get a message saying I need flash player and can't watch the video (eg. thru Facebook). Any ideas why this is happening please anyone?
