Viewing Video On External HD Question ? And, A Printing Question

Hello,

Running Windows 7 on my PC.

Suppose that on an external HD (connected to PC via a USB cable) I have 1 or 2 GB of video.

I also have, of course, a Router, and hope to have the wifi only iPad3 shortly.

How would I go about viewing the video on the iPad ?
Is it possible ?

BTW: might as well also ask now:

if I use the cable that comes with the iPad and plug it into
my PC, can I then load pretty much anything I want to print to the PC (first), and then print from the PC ?
(I have a few year old printer that is hooked to my PC via a USB cable)
