Vintage computers

Over the weekend I acquired an IDE hard drive and installed Windows XP. Here are a couple of photos.

Trying out my recent acquisition of a 14” iBook G3 from 2002. It has a 30GB hard drive and is currently running OS X Tiger 4.1.1. One of the stock wallpapers in Tiger is the clownfish wallpaper that was borrowed for the original iPhone introduction in 2007.
It has the same translucent keyboard used on the iBook G3 Clamshell models. The 21 year old battery still holds a charge for a short time.

My latest vintage acquisition; a COMPAQ LTE ELITE 4/40CX.
It was released in 1994 and discontinued in 1996.
It has a 344mb hard drive, 12mb of RAM, and is running Windows 95.
The original price was about $6,000.00.
It doesn’t need a power brick as the power supply is built in. All I needed was the power cord.
There is no track pad but at the lower right of the screen you will see a trackball. The two buttons are on the back of the display, visible at the lower left in the photo of the closed laptop.
