Weakened wi-fi

Hi guys

I have a 32gb 2nd gen ipad. It is completely up to date with iOS 7.1. However all of a sudden it will not detect all my local and previously connected wi-fi connections unless I am next to the router.

I was hoping somebody had some suggestions on how to fix this problem.

Best wishes

Dan

Best I can manage is to reset your network connections, particularly if you have other devices that are connecting with no problem.

You can do this in Settings/General/Reset/Reset Network Settings

There have been instances where an iOS update messed with previously stored network settings (I think iOS 6 was one instance) so this may help. Give it a try and get back to us, so we can try other potential solutions.

Hi Boff_12 - welcome to the forum! :) Just for starters I would suggest 'Resetting' the iPad, if not already done (hold the Sleep & Home buttons simultaneously for 10+ seconds until the Apple logo appears, release both buttons and wait for the iPad to reboot - this will not affect your apps, data, or settings).

Also, 'power recycle' your modem & router, i.e. pull the plugs (or turn off the switches - not sure if you have separate devices or a two-in-one?), then re-power the modem first followed by the router - please post back your results; if unsuccessful you can enter Settings, select the network(s) not working well, then forget it - re-establish the network to determine if that maneuver helps. Good luck! Dave
