I love thunderstorms and lightning....the bigger the better!

As long as I know I'm safe that is! ;)

My in-laws have a cottage on Lake Erie, southern Ontario, Canada.
Powerful thunderstorms often materialize over land and when the systems collide with the cooler air from the lake, KABOOM!
One summer a front window cracked.

We had a lot of boomers here as well. Very windy!

...or not! I just pulled up my favorite weather app, Peepometer, and was informed that it will be warm w/ 5% percipitation chance. It's supposed to be hot near the end of the week

The "tin pan" thunder clap is the most awesome.
The sound seems to ricochet off the water.

Well that just sounds beautiful.....would love a cottage on a lake!

I'm imagining a storm there now, must be just brilliant when it happens.

KABOOM! Some of them lift you right in the air, well it's actually that I can jump pretty high ;)

Generally, we don't have the KABOOM! type of thunder, just the rumbling kind. I always have to check, because it sounds exactly like someone rolling in their garbage cans...

I will never forget the thunderstorm we witnessed in New York. Our hotel room had no air con. It was 30 floors up and on a corner. We had the windows in 2 sides open for a breeze.

At 2.00 am or thereabouts, we awoke to a deafening KAKACRAACK. It didn't rain, but the lightning effects were something else!

It is quite spectacular. Night turns to day with every lightening strike. Wave generation often makes the next morning fun for beach-combing. Found a Pennsylvania license plate once. It's the U.S. state opposite, on the south shore of Lake Erie. :)

Would just love to see it....the light playing on the lake must be something!

And what fun, beach combing, I collect sea glass which is getting pretty rare nowadays.

I hope you kept that license plate....what a find!
