What's new

What music are you listening to right now!?!?

Paris: La Défense. Jean Michel Jarre.

J.-M. is the son of Maurice Jarre who was a prolific composer of film scores. Even if you've never heard of him, it's a fair bet you've heard some of his work.

Just began downloading this from iTunes...beautifully sung by Beth Wilson and Wayne Bridle!

Title: "Yes, I will..."

Here's the link if you'd like to hear a sneak preview...

Hmm, I don't think I'm allowed to comment......but I will anyway, ITS GREAT!!

The Archangel

I've just listened to it. It's a great soulful song.

Now, talking of juxtaposition... The next song in my playlist is "Where is the Love" by the Black-eyed Peas - just finished that one.

Now I'm onto "A Night Like This" by Caro Emerald.

Hmm, haven't heard that one. I've had his Oxygene LP since it came out in the '70s. It was always better, how shall we say, chemically-enhanced. :)

It's a rip of the soundtrack of the Paris: La Défense video. The concert was (at the time) the biggest outdoor event in history, with 2 million watching in the streets of Paris. It's worth watching for the light show alone. The scale of the thing was massive, with projections running up and down buildings, lasers etc. parts of Oxy-gene featured in the concert, also Equinox, Revolutions and En Attendant Cousteau.

Here's the video in its entirety.

Many thanks, Kevin!

Listening now to Orff's Carmina Burana, from the Royal Philharmonic under Antal Dorati.

No problem Lanny.

I have a version of Carmina Burana by your local orchestra. My favorite is the Berlin Phil, under Seiji Osawa, though.

My favorite Carmina is the Telarc LP set with Robert Shaw and the Atlanta. But there are lots of good ones--about the only way to spoil it is through lack of enthusiasm. Fortunately, only one of my half-dozen versions is like that. :)

On the turntable right now: Caucasian Sketches, by Ippolotov-Ivanov, from an old Vox Box of Russian warhorses.

That's a good number. I haven't heard of the group and artiste.

I'm being introduced to a number of talents I've never heard of through the television show "Sons Of Anarchy."

In addition to its addictive story telling "SOA" is a jukebox full of fresh performers and new arrangements of oldies but goodies.

Such as .... This great Neil Young cover by Battleme.
