I've been listening to all kinds of stuff. I just bought a Fiio D07 Toslink-to-RCA DAC (digital-to-analog converter) to connect my TV, including the attached DVD player and Apple TV, to the preamp of my two-channel hifi system. Now I can stream music from iTunes on my iMac via Apple TV, as well as the sound from Netflix and DVD movies. I'm busy upgrading the AAC files on the iMac to Apple lossless, as the sonic benefit is plainly audible. I am quite pleasantly surprised at the quality of this tiny $50 DAC, which sounds as good as high-end CD players of just five years ago.
Obligatory iPad content: instead of the Apple TV remote, I can select and play music using the Remote app on my iPad.
