What's new

What music are you listening to right now!?!?

The Fauré Requiem, in a live recording my late friend John Blaine made at Christ Church Cathedral in St. Louis, MIssouri. I don't know the year or the orchestra/chorus/conductor, but it's a splendid performance in a magnificent stone church with a 30-meter ceiling and spectacular acoustics. It's giving me goosebumps.

I was listening to Mike Oldfield's Songs Of Distant Earth, which is music he wrote in anticipation of a film version of Arthur C Clarke's book by the same name. Before his death, Clarke conveyed his appreciation of Oldfield's work and hoped that the music would be used if the film was ever made. As far as I know, it never was. Hopefully, someone will get around to it one day.

Right now, I'm listening to a version of Gladiator's main theme, sung by Blake, from Classical Voices 2010. Thanks for the reminder, Johanna.
