Where'd that dang keyboard go?

I just bought PAGES and was disappointed to discover there seems to be no way to do horizontal pages. Ugh.

So I moved to KEYNOTE. All was going well with inserting images and putting in cutlines and then suddenly I can't get it to call up the keyboard. I think I'm doing everything I did before but the keyboard does not appear when I go into the "tape here to add text" fields. Nothing.

Anybody have any idea what I may be doing wrong? I'm betting it's something really simple that I'll feel dumb about when I discover it. Fair enough. I just want to find out what I'm screwing up so I can start entering text again.

Try these first.

Restart: Hold down the power button until the power off slider appears. Slide it off. When the iPad finishes shutting down, hold down the power button again until the Apple logo appears.

Reset: Hold down the power and home buttons until the Apple logo appears. The iPad will reboot. This usually takes a bit longer than a restart.

Also, make sure the shape/box you want to enter text into is in front (no other shape or box in front of it (transparent or not). This is done using the Arrange tab when you have the box selected and the options controller visible.

Thanks, t-poet. I didn't read your post 'til this morning (many thanks for the info about restarting), meanwhile... Without restarting the iPad yesterday the keyboard began to miraculously appear after going back to KEYNOTE. I have NO idea what was going on. And, yes, the text block was always out front.

I also discovered that if you use PAGES on a Mac and set up a horizontal page it WILL transfer as horizontal on synching to the iPad.
