Hi,
Is the printer AirPrint compatible? If not, you may need to attach it to a device such as the XPrint Server box to us it with an iOS decide.

Hello and welcome to the forum! :)

As already stated, Air Print compatibility is needed for 'wireless' printing from the iPad. My first question is whether your Mac computer is printing via a USB cable or wirelessly? If the latter, then I assume the Canon Pixma is Air Print compatible, so why the problem w/ the iPad?

I would first suggest 'power recycling' the printer, i.e. just turn off the power wait a little and then re-power the printer - that has helped me in the past. If not successful, then 're-start' and/or 'reset' the iPad - and if still a problem, I would suggest visiting the Canon website, search for your printer, and see if there is a firmware upgrade to the printer - this has been an issue for others on this forum.

Finally, if all of these suggestions fail, there are a number of 'software' solutions to simulate Air Print; for myself, I've been using a program from Collobos called FingerPrint (HERE) - will install on your Mac (nothing needed on the iPad) - I've been using the program successfully for nearly 2 yrs on my Canon Pixma & Brother laser printers.

Please post back your results - may help others. Good luck!
