Wifi sync question

Set up to wifi sync with new tosh win 7 laptop (therefore not an expert on win 7) however I'm discovering that even when iPad is NOT charging, iTunes keeps popping up on toshi every time an email is received (think that's the cause) and syncing starts.

Help.

Update: uncheck box on summary page "open iTunes when this iPad is connected"
