Will jailbreaking iPad 1 enable it to run iOS 9?

Is it possible to run iOS 9 on my ancient iPad 1 if I jailbreak it? If not, does anyone know of an email app for the iPad 1 that still works to check gmail?

There's no way to run iOS 9 on an iPad 1, jailbreak or not. The hardware of the iPad 1 is not capable of supporting iOS 9.

I use the native "mail" app on my iPad1 to access an assortment of email addresses.
Have you tried adding your gmail account to Mail via the Settings page?
