wireless connection at airport

Hi there,
I am trying to help my boss with his iPad. He was unable to connect to "go-to-my-PC" while at the Burbank Airport. The wireless connection the airport offers is fine, it just wouldn't let him log on to "go-to-my-PC". He tried the other connections around that were offered, but no success. So my question is how can he use his "Sprint" modem wireless connection for his iPad? How does he get this option and how does he "over power" the wireless connection that is given to patrons? Thanks for your help and sorry for the BAD terminology....lol I'm not too familiar with computers.
