3D PDF Viewer

Does anyone know if there is a viewer app for 3D PDF files? This would be a great platform for viewing and talking about design models.

My guess is that the 3D PDF requires flash to work properly.

I think you're out of luck for a 3D PDF viewer, but there are viewers available for some other 3D modelling programs, such as AutoCAD. But they are only viewers, the iPad's not up to creating or editting AutoCAD or SolidWorks models. Not sure if you could translate a 3D model in PDF (didn't even know they were available!) into AutoCAD or SolidWorks. Where did you create the 3D models??

Anyway.....

Good to hear from you, I should have said straight away!! You’ll find a whole bunch of iPad enthusiasts in this Forum who are only too willing to help other iPad owners and to hear of their experiences. Don’t be afraid to post any questions you may have or use the ‘Search’ button near the top of the Forum web page. I usually find I discover one new interesting and useful piece of information about my iPad every day - and often not even what I was looking for!!

Hope to hear from you soon with your thoughts about the iPad.

Have fun and enjoy your iPad

If you don’t already have it you can download a copy of the iPad manual for free from

There seems to be some kind of solution for this:

Those claim to be 3D-PDFs. I have no idea about the pad, though....

3D PDF on iPAD

Unfortunately Apple will not agree to support Adobe. Apple will not support any flash players besides its own and therefore will not support Adobe. However, an app may be developed sooner for the Android or any Windows based touch-pad, as it supports Adobe format. Hopefully by 2012!

Maybe the iPAD or iPhone will support 3D PDF's some day soon, but I think they would produce their own version...
