Hello,

I have had an iPad for just over a year. It is my first and thus far only Apple device. The last year has been a journey of mixed feelings in regards to Apple.
I work graveyard shift, and I liked the iPad to read on, because it has it's own light source and really liked the possibilities it promised.

I really like my iPad. I really hate iTunes. I really like the podcasts, apps, etc that are present. I really hate the hipsterism of the Apple fans, and Chinese-like centralization and control that Apple forces on me.

Sorry to offend, if I did indeed offend anybody.

I like Apple enough to decide I wanted to get an iPod touch, since I changed positions at work and want something to stick in my pocket, instead of haul around, but I waited until I successfully updated the iOs of my ipad and updated iTunes. They no longer work correctly, so I am holding off on giving Apple anymore money.

Help me see the golden light of Apple goodness.

If you're having tech problems, search threads or start them. There's plenty of help available.

If you have philosophical or ethical concerns involving Apple, that's something you'll have to decide on your own.

Not philosophical or ethical problems, practical problems. I hate iTunes.

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

A lot of members hate iTunes, you are in good company, but it is just necessary at times.
You're having problems with your iPad after the update, have you done a reset? This was recommended after the upgrade. Reset: Hold the power off button and the home button simultaneously, keep holding them in and you will see the power off slide appear and disappear, wait until you see the Apple logo appear before releasing the buttons. It will take a little longer for your iPad to start. See how this goes.

Welcome to the forums! Glad to see new posters. I'm with you, iTunes needs to be totally redone or just destroyed by fire. Yes, fire destroying a program.

Hi mickyc-it took me a while to really understand how to use iTunes. I really struggled with it when I first purchased my iPod classic. I felt really lost, but once I read more and experimented with the different settings-it got better! I remember going to the library and getting the "iTunes for dummies" book. Sounds funny now, but sure did help. My advice to you, is just be patient. As Leelai said, "it is necessary at times." We have to learn to deal and be comfortable with it.

Best wishes.

If you're just having tech probs and can overlook the other things you itemized in your original post (about Apple hipsters, Chinese-like centralization, etc.,), then it's just about learning how iTunes works. But it sounds like on another thread that you have other computer problems (you said your computer sucks), so it's hard to tell whether your problems stem from your computer, iTunes or a combination.

If you have a crummy computer (whether hardware or software) or bad Internet connection, that will directly affect your experience with iTunes.
