You've just seen the iPad Air launch event, then compared the latest iPad with the last year's model and decided you are ready to pre-order? Unfortunately, we have bad news for those who can't wait. If you want to be sure you get the new ultra-thin iPad Air as quickly as possible by preordering it, you'll have to wait until November 1st, as the tablets are not available in Apple's store and not even for pre-orders.
The same thing happens when you try to buy the redesigned iPad Mini. Before finishing the pre-order process, you will get either one of the following messages:
"Available online and in Apple Retail Stores on November 1"
"Currently unavailable"
Even if there were supply constraints with the new iPhone units, especially the iPhone 5s, Apple did let users place pre-orders which sometimes work at least as a consolation for consumers and gives them a rough estimate of the shipping date. This seems to be one of the very few, if not the first time when Apple announces a product but doesn't make it available for pre-order right away. We will be talking in a future posting about posssible causes.
