Robin Williams' passing away was a big shock for everybody and all of us will be missing his laughter and humor. Like many others, Tim Cook was also affected, saying the following on his Twitter account: "Heartbroken by the news of Robin Williams’ passing. He was an incomparable talent and a great human being. Rest in peace."
And now Apple has posted a Robin Williams tribute page to its website, which follows the addition of a special iTunes section featuring selected works of the late Robin Williams. The webpage is titled just "Remembering Robin Williams," and mentions the following:
"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Robin Williams. He inspired us through his passion, his generosity, and the gift of laughter. He will be greatly missed."
Today's version shows a subdued black-and-white photo of Williams smiling, which is overlaid with his birth and death dates and a short message. One of the last projects Williams worked on was the inaugural commercial spot for Apple's "Your Verse" iPad campaign. In it, he recited a stirring monologue from the film "Dead Poets Society."
Williams quoted from Walt Whitman, adding the following
"That the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?"
Robin Williams rose to fame with his role as the alien Mork in the TV series Mork & Mindy and went on to establish a successful career in both stand-up comedy and feature film acting. His film career included such acclaimed films as Popeye, The World According to Garp, Good Morning, Vietnam, Dead Poets Society, Awakenings, The Fisher King, Good Will Hunting, Hook, Aladdin, Mrs. Doubtfire, Jumanji, The Birdcage, Night at the Museum, Happy Feet and others.
