According to AppleInsider, Apple appears to be on a recruitment drive for experts in the advanced medical imaging field, having placed job listings for a “Human Factors Anthropometry Engineer/Researcher.”
Anthropometry is, according to AppleInsider, the study of measurements and proportions of the human body, and includes such diverse subjects as body dimensions, weight, ergonomics, comfort and posture.
There is no official word from Apple presently as to what this new area of interest could mean, but it is most likely to do with Apple’s increased involvement in the area of health and fitness, in particular with the new iOS 8 health app, and possibly even the forthcoming Apple Watch.
The job listing itself provides a few more clues, saying that the successful candidate will work in biometric analysis. The candidate that the advert says Apple is looking for is required to have experience using 3D scanning equipment and motion capture, among other skills.
