The prospect of Apple launching its own branded television set is a story that has been rumbling on for several years now, with the rumblings sometimes getting louder and sometimes going quiet. Well, according to a new story on AppleInsider today it looks like an Apple TV set is still very much in the works, with BGR reporting that the OLED Association has said that Apple has just recruited one of LG’s senior researchers to work on an Apple-branded HDTV set. Dr. Lee Jeung-jil has also worked at Samsung in the past, as head of R&D for LCD tech development, before taking charge of researching OLED printing tech for LG. According to the report, Dr. Lee Jeung-jil is thought to be “more knowledgeable about OLEDs than any of Apple’s current staff, which is known to be quite strong.†In other words, Apple means business when it comes to developing its own brand, top-of the range TV set!
