Architecture - buildings that is

These photos are of St John's Gate in Clerkenwell, London.

I believe the structure is Mediaeval. It's name is certainly linked in with the St. John's Ambulance organisation.

I took these on Sunday, at the Victoria & Albert Museum in Kensington. We managed to enjoy lunch in the central courtyard, as did some feathered "friends".

I suggest you zoom in on the lettering to the gable. It tells quite a story.

There was a fabulous display of jewellery and precious metal boxes, watches etc. I'm afraid my shot of the Hill watch was blurred by light and the glass cabinet.

We also visited the Natural History Museum. It was very busy. To avoid the queue at the front, we went in at the side via the Geological Museum.

The interior details of the building are superb. Most columns in the Dinosaur Hall have fossils, creatures and flora carved on them.

Recently visited family in San Diego, California. We spent a day around San Diego Harbor took the ferry to Coronado Island. This is the Coronado Hotel at the tip of the island, facing the Pacific Ocean. The second photo is Mission San Diego-->one of the first missions started by Friar Junipero Serra. Friar Serra, walked from here and ended as far north as Marin County, north of San Francisco. Practically every major city in California, from San Diego to San Rafael, all had missions started by Father Serra and his order.

Hey MattiM--we spent our 8th year anniversary down in San Diego for a week and stayed at the Coronado Hotel...oh it was such a beautiful, historic hotel and beautiful place to visit! Thanks for bringing back memories for me! :)

Thank you for the photos, MattIM. We holocaust at San Diego many years ago. We loved it. We visited the Hotel Coronado, and I remember it's connections with film stars of the past.

Happy days, and thanks for the memories. :)
