Auto Correct not operative with wireless keyboard

All, I'm new to this so bear with me.
I've just paired my Apple bluetooth keyboard with my iPad2, and mysteriously auto correct no longer operates. Can anyone help?

I presume you've checked your settings after connecting the keyboard? I would imagine that Apple might consider that you're less likely to need auto-correct with a physical keyboard and therefore disable it, but presumably you can go into the settings and enable it again.
