Hi Michael and welcome to the Forum!

Many members here have Jailbroken their iPads and don't have any issues with their batteries. Battery life is dependent on how you have your iPad set up. Brightness can chew quite a bit of battery, I have mine set to just under half way with Auto Brightness set On. How many notifications do you have set up and how is your mail set? I have mine set to Manual, this way my iPad is not continually connecting to the Internet for notifications. Have a look at your settings and you may find you can indeed save a lot of battery life by just tweaking them. Hope this helps and I have included a link to our Jailbreaking Tutorial
