I completely agree with everything both of you gave said! While I too understand that GI are in it as a business and need to make money to pay developers, systems etc... but at what point do they stop jacking up the prices of everything? You have to find a happy median and leave it at that. It all goes back to price elasticity of demand and the whole price vs quantity (supply-demand) economics. At some point, the price is going to get so high that the quantity x price is going to end up being less than what they had at the lower prices. Sure there will always be players who will continue to pay the increased prices, but those are either people who have more money than they know what to do with, or just fools!
The most recent example is the leprechaun event. In the last (nessie etc...), the highest priced city credit boost used to cost 3cc. Now the lowest one costs 3! I fully admit that I purchased quite a few of the highest level ones when they were 3. In this event, I refuse to purchase a single one (even the lowest). I'll use what I get for free in game and leave it at that. Besides, the prizes we get from the chests aren't worth spending all that cash.
The other thing they are doing now is making these events such a stretch to accomplish without spending at least some cc, it is getting ridiculous! You are pretty much left with two options these days - 1. Play the game all day everyday; or 2. Spend cc to speed things up. Gone are the days when I could spend a few hours here and there and complete tasks with relative ease.
I won't even get into the whole daily contests, or corp events nonsense. It is evident that both are nothing more than a money making racket for GI - meant for those who are willing to spend real cash to get productions bonuses, or 'buy' corp points to move up in the rankings. I'm sorry ... I value my real world life, and hard earned money too much to squander away at some internet bad ass ranking. Especially with GI's inclination to ban people left, right, and center with no explanation or recourse as we are seeing currently with the port glitch that is created by GIs ineptness itself.
Now do I enjoy playing the game? Absolutely I do! Will I spend cash on it? I'm pretty sure I will. But it will be nothing more than what I can save by say giving up a bar night tab every now and then. I will just continue to play the game until GI's antics reach a point of inflection with my patience and enjoyment and will not think twice about walking away if/when it gets to that point.
Ok ... I'll get off my soap box now
