It's online storage that you get by using an app. You can store whatever you like as long as its within size requirements. I've been trying it out with ebooks primarily.

Does the free box.net account have something similar to the Dropbox folder sync? I really like the non-web interface I can get using Dropbox...much more seamless and less intrusive.

I would jump at this idea (even with the file size limit) if I could avoid the web-only interface.

No, it is web only but apparently you can create a web drive for easier access. Pity about that but uploading 50GB, even in files of 100MB, is certainly going to take long time even on a fast connection.
