When I go into the camera app the lens won't open. Can anyone help me?

Is this a new problem or has it happened before?

If it's a new problem the best and easiest quick fix to most iPad problems is to power the iPad completely down by pressing and holding the Power button until the slider control appears and then accepting the offer to switch off, wait then until the screen goes completely blank and then power on again by pressing and holding the Power switch until the white Apple logo appears. The iPad will then power up. Most Members find this fixes a whole range of 'issues' with the iPad.

Hope this helps but, if it doesn't, don't hesitate to get back in contact with us.

Tim

Mine is doing the same thing. It will only open a few times when first taken off the charger. I've completely closed all programs, reset the iPad, and reinitiallized and reinstalled everything with no results. Looks like a call to Apple is in order.

I'm having a similar problem with the camera.... I am able to take a picture with the back camera, but once I switch to the front camera it will freeze.

I tried turning it off and same problem.

I tried hard reset and same problem.

I tried reseting all and same problem.

I tried restoring the firmware and same problem.

Very very disappointed that this is happening for such an expensive product.

Good info link. I guess I'll just leave the camera be until Apple sorts it out. Reason No.86 why the iPad3 may not be right around the corner.

How can I read free books on ipad

This is only the rear camera, at least in my case. If I can get it work at all with the front camera and leave it there when I close it, it will usually open and run until I switch to the rear camera.

I've put off calling because I'd really like to take it in in person and, hopefully, walk out with a replacement. The nearest Apple store is 300 miles away, but it looks like I'll be taking a trip that goes past a few. Does anybody know if they can/will move my apps/data from the old iPad to the new one?

Camera lens locking up

Someone please help. I have jiggled camera,,powered off /on etc etc etc and it still locks up. I am in Iraq and that isbwherebthe problem lies...

I happened to be near an Apple store last Saturday afternoon. The first rep I walked near asked me if he could help me. I explained my problem, and that I didnt have any appointment because I hadn't planned to be in the area. He said "No problem" and fixed me up with a walk-in at the genius counter (they do everything on their iPhones in Apple stores...) and they were helping me within a few minutes. They asked permission to restore my iPad, and explained if that fixed the camera, it was software related, but if it was still inoperative they would replace the iPad. A half hour or so later I walked out with a new iPad - with a working camera. :)

Thank you so much. I am going to send it back America this week to have it checked out ron in Iraq

I just noticed my iPad camera is not working. The shutter will not open. I powered off and back on. Still not working. It had worked before.

Hi and welcome to the Forum. As you see there have been a few problems with the camera. Have you tried a reset of your iPad? Hold the power off button, top right, and the home button down simultaneously. Keep holding them down and you will see the power off slide appear and disappear, wait until you see the apple logo appear before releasing the buttons. It will take a little more time for your iPad to restart. I hope this solves it for you. Let us know what happens. Good luck!!

This is the reason why we love apple. Hope South Africa gets the same customer services SOON!
