Hi, I want to give my IPad to someone that doesn't have a computer. Can an IPad be used with a wireless router without another computer hardwired to the computer? If you know how to do this, please let me know. I am not so good with computers.

Thanks!

Sure, as long as you have an Internet Service Provider (ISP). The best thing to do is to contact your local ISP and see what kind do deals they have on a wireless router. If you get the router from the provider, they'll be the ones that make sure it runs correctly - and you don't have to worry about it.

I'd call around and see if you can find the best deal. Or, check with the person to whom you are giving the iPad. If they have cable or DSL, they might be able to tie in a wireless router to their plan.

Those would be my suggestions ... I am sure others will have more... Good luck.

Also make sure the iPad you get has iOS 5 installed. Some older boxed units may not. Earlier iOS versions will require a computer to initialize the iPad.
