Can i buy an ipad in the usa to use in america?

I am travelling to the USA this week and noticed how much cheaper an iPad is there as opposed to the UK. My son has an iTunes account in the UK would he be able to use it if I purchased an iPad in the USA?

Yes you would. I believe you need the AT&T model for full compatibility. (It's not as complex in Canada. We only get one type.)

However, prices in North America don't include sales tax. That varies from state to state and is added at point of purchase, but is nowhere near as extortionate as your VAT. You would also be liable for UK import duty. Add in a UK wall plug for charging.
