Can I connect my iPad 3 to a MacBook 3 without using wifi?

I ask because I would be trying to transfer files from my iPad 3 to the MacBook in an area without wifi.

My wish is to watch tv programmes I have downloaded on the BBC iplayer on the MacBook. Is this possible?

Thank you.

:)

If your MacBook has Bluetooth, you can connect that way.

I don't know if you can transfer your TV programs, or if it's allowed.

Thank you.

I don't want to transfer them permanently. I'd like to play them via my iPad but watch them via the larger MacBook screen.

If your iPad has a cellular data plan and if allowed by your cellular provider, you can also create a wifi hotspot on your iPad and have your MacBook connect with it.

My iPad only connects to wifi at home/cafes, etc.

I don't have a data plan with it.

Is it possible to connect it via a cable?

Do you have an Apple TV? You could stream your programs to the screen on your MacBook if you do.

Apple has connecting cables. There are AV and HDMI sets available.

Hi Scifan.. - exactly my thought after reading your initial post - I use BT (bluetooth) on my iPad to connect to my Apple keyboard, BT headphones, and also a HDTV Boston Acoustics soundbar (i.e. BT speakers) - not sure that BT offers any more options for the iPad?

But @ BusterB - would a wired iTunes connection work for you? :)
